CCBF will host its annual “Breakthrough Ball” Benefit Gala on Thursday
evening, November 17, 2016 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.

CCBF is honoring veteran TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager, who has
inspired NBA players, coaches and fans with his “never give up” attitude
during his grueling two plus year battle with cancer. Sager, who
accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance during the 2016 ESPY awards,
has brought the NBA with him to CCBF with almost half of the teams in
the league being involved in the Breakthrough Ball.

In addition, for the first time in the history of the Breakthrough Ball,
CCBF will be honoring one of its patients, 7-year-old Walker Lipton, as
well as Dr. Mark M. Souweidane, director of pediatric neurosurgery at
New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine.

“We can’t say it every year, because that’s not how research works, but
some of the research that we have sponsored has truly opened the door to
the prospect of curing cancer, making it possible for heroes like Craig
Sager and little Walker Lipton to live full and productive lives,” said
CCBF Chairman Les Lieberman.

The Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation (CCBF), through its support of
the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, has created a
standard of excellence in the treatment of children with chronic,
life-threatening blood disorders since 1952. CCBF is the oldest and
largest charitable organization in the U.S. dedicated to the care of
children with cancer and blood disorders. Over the years, CCBF has
helped the Division grow into one of the most comprehensive programs of
its kind. Les Lieberman, Ronald J. Iervolino, Drew Phillips and Janice
Garjian lead CCBF’s Board of Directors.
