Missouri students, communities to hold more than 350 events as part
of nation’s largest-ever celebration of school choice

KANSAS CITY, Mo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mayor Sly James has officially proclaimed Jan. 22-28 “Kansas City School
Choice Week,” joining more than 600 other city and county leaders, plus
more than 20 governors, in issuing similar proclamations.

This year, National School Choice Week will feature more than 21,000
events, including nearly 400 in Missouri. It will be the largest-ever
celebration of opportunity in education. Events include rallies,
roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs,
and more.

National School Choice Week is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical effort
seeking to raise awareness about of the school choice options parents
have, or want to have, for their children.

“We are very happy that Mayor James has issued this proclamation,” said
Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “It’s
exciting to see families and schools working together to provide the
best opportunities for children. School Choice Week provides an
opportunity to talk about the unique individuality of each child and the
different schools that are available to meet those child’s unique needs.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public
awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective
education options for every child. Through thousands of independently
planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises
public awareness of all types of educational choices available to
children. These options include traditional public schools, public
charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private
schools, and homeschooling.
